Thank you! although I fear there is not much to clean except maybe the ashtrays. The finish is a little rough as it is a diy rattle can nitro finish and I didn‘t prepare the wood that much before spraying...

Oh, okay. From the picture it just looked like dust and fingerprints, that'd probably have a much more road worn vibe to it in person.

midas well join up. I've had more tort on basses than probably any other color PG.
These are some that have been in the stash.

yes, both of those were fine instruments, but alas, had to go away (so I could try other, fine instruments).

Here's some others. The black one I actually still own, because I need it for my Tom Petty tribute (it's my Ron Blair bass).

I clearly have a disease. the only cure is MORE tort.

Big Als are great basses. I owned several, but loved that white one the best. 4s and 5s. Very versatile (very good P tone, very good J tone, could also cop the MM tone) but they were pointy and unconventional. I like stuff like that, but not everybody else does. It was one of the few EBMM basses with a passive mode (until they introduced the Cutlass and Caprice). EBMM made and sold something like 500 of them for about 10 years.

I went thru a Musicman phase, but moved on to other bases, as I just found I preferred the classic P tone and an active J tone.

I have 4 basses and none of them have tort. To make things worse, one of them did get shipped to me with tort on, but I liked the 3tsb below and I removed it.

Do I get to be banned from this thread?

  13. Errrr..... Maybe you have a tort guitar???
    A tort pick?
    ...a hair comb?? :wacky:

Nope, no need to ban anyone from the thread without reason. Now, if you were to come into a thread that doesn't concern you and start peeing all over other people's choices for no reason other than to pee all over other people's choices, then we'd likely reconsider (actually, the mods would probably handle that in their own special way ;)). But if you're respectful, I doubt anyone here will mind, whether you love tort, like it, are indifferent, don't like it, or hate it. But, even if anyone else does, I won't (like my signature suggests, just don't be an a$$ ;) :D).

  16. May I present my new pickguard:
    IMG_20190215_101630.
As you may be able to see from this pic, there is currently no musical instrument attached. This is where one would normally be:
    IMG_20190215_102002.
I intend to add this detail at a later stage.

Wow, this thread was silent for two months?! Wake up tortees, let's see 'em, even if you posted them before!

Three of my basses don't have pickguards, but three do and they're (of course) all tort:

Franken Jazz - SX SJB-62 body, SX SJB2 fretted neck (replaced the original fretless neck), Nordstrand pickups, and Audere preamp. Looks like an SX, sounds like a great bass!
