The Orffyreus Wheel?

Discussion in 'Ask Steve Lawson & Michael Manring' started by Clay_Bass, Apr 12, 2006.

  1. Hi michael. It was great to meet you at Bootcamp. Those stretches you showed us have really helped get rid of cramping and back pains. Anyways on this song there are sections where youre playing the upper notes with the e-bow and then slapping some lower notes. What fingers/grip do you hold the bow with to be able to slap at the same time? Thanks!

So glad those stretches are working for you! Thanks for coming to the Bootcamp.

In the section of “The Orffyreus Wheel” you’re talking about, I cradle the Ebow with the four fingers of my right hand, leaving my thumb free to play rhythmic figures on the low string. The technique is a little tricky, but it’s a nice way to be able to play polyphonic music with the Ebow.

  3. Ah hah thanks again time to go practice that!
