The other side of Roger Glover (and Ian Gillan)

    If you have heard his '84 solo album "Mask," then you know he was very interested in synth-pop. Then came the Gillan & Glover album "Accidentally on Purpose" in '88. It's very good, and about as far from Deep Purple as you can get.

    Here they are performing "Clouds and Rain" on TV. It's a good song, although Gillan's dance "moves" can never be unseen.

    Technically, there were still rockin' with Purple (although things had soured in the band within one year of the 1984 reunion). This was done as a side project.

    It did for a second, until what I was seeing began to sink in. Then I stopped dancing, followed by open mouthed disbelief that Glover didn't reach over and stop him. That was like letting your friend go off to ask a girl out with toilet paper on his shoe.
