I have a Stingray Special HH which I love so I am reluctant to try a Mercalli. If that model is as nice as the other Revs I've played the Stingray may be looking for a new home. Since the WattPlower showed up I rarely play the Stingray much anymore.

Fwiw, I had a Mercalli five string twice, ended up trading/selling them both times. I loved the feel, neck, shape and overall thump of them, but couldn't get behind having a pan control. I picked up a Stingray Special 5HH and haven't looked back. It's my first full-time active bass, so that's been a little adjustment. The pickup options paired with the EQ controls really help emphasize specific pickup tonalities. e.g., if going for a solo jazz bass sound, using the outer coil setting and boosting treble.

I still have a Rev Fellowship. It's been one of my go-to precision style basses. Wattplower looks great!

I dig the pan control personally. Each to their own. Have you considered a Triad? It's has 5 way switching. I'm eager to try one…

Have not! Would love to check out the Triad one day.

Using the pan control live on my Mercalli 4 is untenable for me. Level swing is too wild.

Good points, i have not spent enough practical time with the pan control so that is worth considering. I will have to find another one locally and spend some time with it. My other consideration for a 5 string option would be the Ray35 or the new Sterling Bongo 5. I have the Special 4HH and a Ray 34H and i might have a project on the horizon requiring a 5 string. So many good choices out there.

I'd imagine the jazz bomb would sound spicy in the BB! How does it blend with the BB's P/neck pickup?

Oh, that got replaced with a DiMarzio Relentless middle. They sound great together

Super happy with this guy. 7lbs even. Usual Reverend flawless build quality. After installing Labella LT flats and a setup, plays wonderfully!

Been playing bass for around 40 years now, had Yamaha, Sadowsky Japan and USA, Lakeland, Lull, Fender, Music Man, G&L. Somewhere recently I saw a Reverend Mercalli and liked the looks and online samples so started looking for one. Then I ran into the Fatfish. I couldn't quit looking it up and eventually found one. Good grief, I love this bass. Big, punchy, warm, defined. It basically is the sound I've bought countless preamps over the years to get. And built very well. Very happy with this thing. It has great character visually as well!

Congrats, Gab! Reverends are beautiful basses indeed. When I first played mine in a local shop, I wondered where that bass had been all my life. I wanted to take it out for a drink.

The Fatfish is 32" scale, correct?
