White Ric? Babe Magnet? Yep, I’m in!

This is around ‘83. All was well. Except then in ‘89 it was stolen, and the babes stayed far away. Funny how that works.

Luckily enough, Rare Blend (not the band with the steel player) had lots of women fans and supporters.

This guy got all the babes, certainly, at least, two tons of fun of them!

(Screen shots from bad video, the only documentation I have of Monogroove’s gig last Saturday.)

  6. How many of you have removed the neck pickup and installed a 4000-ish pickguard to their 4001/4003?

Seems like it might be kind of a neat thing to do.

I've seen a couple of guys do that on the rickresource forum before - they turn out great! I've thought about it but then i realize that i'm a real neck-pickup-dweller, so i talk myself out of it. Some say not having the neck pickup's magnetic pull influencing the strings' vibration contributes to more sustain.

I’ve seen it done by a few people.
Troy Hughes has a nice looking one, (fireglo with a gold pickguard),
that he’s played on several of his youtube videos.

Tell me about your "Mairadianbacker". I thought it was a 4001CS till I noticed the tuners.

I’m almost strictly a neck pickup player, until I don’t have one. Then I never miss it. AND I will actually use a tone knob.

Purchased from Mouradian Guitar about ten years ago: JD099.

Wavy Grovers, “Incorrect” Inlays, SINGLE Truss-Rod. :help:

Everything else about it screams Rickenbacker. Sent LOTS of pics to JH, who coined it a possible prototype.

And Jim Mouradian told me he traced one of Chris Squire’s basses when he did some work on it (an old rug-maker’s trick perhaps), and that JD 099 matched up perfectly to it.

So maybe a ghost-build, maybe an employee build, maybe a prototype, maybe an “elaborate Rickenfaker” (said an RRF-er or two)…who’s to say. :cigar:

I’m just honored to have it for its connection to Jim (and Jon) Mouradian alone.

    Greetings from the North,

This was my third 4001. It's from a gig in London 1978 New Wave lol. There's a humbucker that I could split in the neck position to run as a single. Also in the close up you can see a TBird on the floor to the right with a mirror pickguard. I still have the TBird but the Ric I lost to nose candy in Florida a couple of years later. Losing that Ric woke me up and made me stop the next day! :)
