    I've been neglecting my Rick (1973 4001). I got it out for a gig...after a year ... a year... it was still in tune.

    That was Rickenbacker's first "Color of the Year" series, 2000. It's called Sea Green.

    I don't mean to brag I don't mean to boast. I like playing a Ric with my breakfast toast. PXL_20221023_193701171.jpg

    Got a truss rod cover from quick guards. Doesn’t quite line up. Would you just screw in the two holes at the nut or what? Not really keen on drilling anything because I’m probably gonna sell this down the line. Also, is there a specific size of screw for the headstock? Should add I bought this without a trc, that’s why I got a new one.

    I'd drill the extra hole. If you sell it later, presumably you'd be selling it with the TRC, correct? I think more people would be put off by a TRC being held by only two screws than they would be by an extra TRC screw hole they can't see.

    It looks like the holes in the TRC are countersunk. See if a pickguard screw will go in easily; if so, get some more of those.

    The screws that Ric had used are fillister head screws (same as those on the jackplate and holding the tuners on), not conically countersunk like a pick guard screw, but I looked at my 2015 4003 and it seems the TRC has shallow cylindrical countersinks for the fillister head to nestle into. My ‘83 doesn’t seem to have that. Didn’t check my’92.

    I don't mean to be rude at all, but I don't find the pearloid a pleasing match with that finish (presumably the bass is Mapleglo, since the headstock is glossy.)

    I would personally seek out a white or black TRC before drilling any holes.
  16. Hmm, wait....Fillister heads you say?
    Don't see those very often.

    My 2018 definitely has Pan Heads on the TRC, jack plate, and tuner mounting plates;

    EDIT-My '79 had (rusty) Round heads on it when I rehabbed it, but I've since replaced them,
    except the tuner plate screws, with Pan heads.

    Some music store in Rochester, NY is getting a shipment of YelloGlo 4003’s…..

    They are pretty sweet looking! Looks like a single output jack when I zoom in.

    Yeah I wanted a white one but quick guards doesn’t make them. Any legit ones online are usually over $200, which is absurd.

    This pic lifted from the RickySounds website is what I have on my Rics. They say it’s 3 x 3/8.
