Hello, I really like the bass tones of Tony Franklin and Steve Digiorgio. I was wondering if anyone could recommend me the right pickups/preamp that could tackle both tones off the "Symbolic" and "Blue Murder" albums. I need something in a soapbar housing. I am torn between the Seymour Duncans ASB-6 Phase 1 Basslines, EMG actives or the Aguilar DCB's. My stock preamp is okay but it's kind of like full on/full off, there's not much range. As long as it can cover those two sounds I'll be in good shape.
We need information... What kind of controls are you expecting it to have? two-band or more? active/passive switch? Out of those choices I'd get the Aguilar pickups & you might as well get their preamp to go with it.
3 band EQ, passive switch with the passive pickups, otherwise not. The BCQ has the sweepable mids which I like.
