Fit and finish on higher end ibanez blows all other mass produced lines of the same price point out for the water

Seems more a bias against low end it seems.
I had s premium Ibanez. Sold it as I did not play it enough. But got an SR300 back as I needed that neck in my life.
Yet. With the new powerspan pups and the same preamp through the range it is an absolute steal.
I set it up as low as the premium and it plays exactly the same. With the pups in series it growls and sings. And with just over 3 kg it is ideal for those uber long practices we now have.
Finish is excellent. Okay the 1820 had fancy wood and it was worked really nice. Yet?

I think the QC isn't as stringent with the lower end models. I had a SR405, and I agree the power span pickups are pretty good. But the fret work was not great, and I had to constantly adjust the neck, so I returned it
The PowerSpan pickups come in the E models: SR300E, SR405E
The new SR505E has the BH2 pickups & the active/passive switch.
I don't need to adjust the neck on my Premium Soundgear, thanks to the Ti bars in there, but it's still the least stiff neck on my basses, including a GSR100EX.

I might get another SR some day and it would be one with the Powerspans. Probably this one:

I have an SR300EL in a metallic pewter finish. It rocks hard. I found an SR300EL on Reverb in weathered black. I really like the looks of it--similar to the one you posted. I'm thinking about buying it..
Never had an SR that I didn't like but this one is the most versatile sounding,best playing one of the bunch. It's just that bass that makes you want to play it. Definitely the nicer of the 2 I have now the other is a SR700 (which is no slouch).
Got this in a trade a week or so ago. It's a near-mint SR755 although I'm not sure of the DOM. Ran it by our expert-in-residence @Killed_by_Death for the low-down prior to committing: *neck is fairly stiff on this one *MK1 pick-ups are respectable but a departure from the Nordys in my 1405 *stupid saddles lean thanks to the single grub screw height adjustment. Minor niggle but may be of help to someone: The stock nut slots were waaay too narrow although cut to the correct depth. The strings would literally "click" into position which is not good as this may lead to binding. The trick was widening each slot without removing any material from the bottom.
I know Ibanez has differences within a model series (i.e. a model SR805 with different finishes, components)... what are are the differences between an SR755 and an SR805.
I have the latter, and from the description above, they could be long lost second cousins, from my brother's mother.
Update: I have an OBP-3 on the way, if the USPS stops sitting on it. I ordered two extra mini toggles and a push/pull volume to switch between active and passive, but I think I will stick with the push/pull and one mini... hopefully, no more drilling and the cavity should be able to house both the new and original components.

Like the finish. And I still LOVE the pups and electronics in my now-fretless SR400e. I just knew they would sound good in a fretless and I've not been disappointed. Still trying to find a pair for my SR505e.
I have this love / hate relationship with the pre / pickup configurations in both basses, particularly the 1405 with Nordy HB's. Could be the Dunlop SuperBrights are a bad pairing. Problem is I have too much time to obsess over stuff like this.

I've gotten better with the two week contemplation "...do I REALLY need this?!?" and that saves a bunch of dough. Case in point: a new Audere preamp will run ~$150 but the badly-needed john for the upstairs bath is $180-200. Priorities change with age and prostate health.
Look forward to seeing a F/U on the new preamp!
