My only gripe is that he uses distortion for every review and that's not my thing. I want to hear how the bass sounds through a clean channel as well. At the same time I know that even a clean demo would sound different through my gear.

That's one of mine. Personality wise he grates against me.
Same here.
But if it's recorded clean DI, you can use that as a source to play it through your gear. Bass The World demos and reviews I find very useful.

I'm concerned the floor height on the Schaller is going to be too high compared to the original.
Well, there is an included spacer, that I hadn't yet removed in those pics......

Much better. I was concerned you might have to rout and I haven't installed a Schaller myself to know the height difference so I was just eyeballing the pictures. Glad it looks like it will work out. With the upgrades it's going to be great.

The only adjustments I've made so far is raising the D & G saddles just a bit, to get the strings off the frets enough for tuning. I'll do the rest tomorrow night

Once I got into making adjustments, and the intonation just wasn't working with the bridge in the same position as stock. Maxed out the E string saddle, and ran out of travel for the B-string, needed more .... so I made some more holes, and moved it about 3/8" futher away from the fretboard:
Intonation is great now
But, the holes for the front screws from the original bridge are now visible, I'll have to work out a way to fix that at some point.
One thing I didn't really expect, was the improvement in the sound of the bass
Not a massive difference, but noticeable.
Mostly, it just made the tone more....solid? I guess? Hard to describe, but a definite improvement, imo
And probably most importantly, it accomplished the goal I had for it - it got rid of the grub screws for the saddles that were constantly poking in my hand
With the overall design, and having to move it further from the fretboard, it's actually really comfortable for pick playing now

It sure is Lots-O-green ! Hoping it's a keeper ... It's from a local in state online seller so if grain pattern is wonky or anything wrong at least it won't cost too much in shipping to return -
I've been through a ton of basses but so glad I came back to SR's. I absolutely love playing this bass and it was incredible last night using it live for the first time.
I hope you got it sorted out! I just ordered the same preamp for my sr1346b wondering if you can comment on what it did for the bass?

I almost ordered that last month cuz I have a thing for maple-boarded SRs. It just seemed a bit much, color-wise. Couldn't envision it on my country gigs. Went with a new 600e instead. Hope it's awesome for you!
I had an identical but right handed sr800 in the teal/green colour also, it was a 1987...Great basses
