The Star Wars Holiday Special I have never watched this before and now I know I was not missing anything. Hey, Jefferson Starship is even in it.
I watched it for the first time recently. "Awesomely bad" doesn't even begin to describe it. There's a great podcast called "That's What We're Tarkin About" that talks about each ep in detail. The hosts are funny, and it made watching the special almost worth it.
Ahhh...the Holiday Special. Y'know I personally believe the CIA hired Lucas to make that so they'd have something to use in interrogations when everything else failed.
I actually watched it during the first broadcast. I remember thinking it wasn't all that great. I watched it again recently, and I was utterly jaw droppingly amazed at the sheer horror of it. I must have been a very forgiving teenager to think it "wasn't all that great." It may be the worst thing ever aired on television. EVER.
You should have asked first. You'd have been warned away. But you'd have watched it anyway, right? It was so bad that Lucas tried to find every copy and have it destroyed. My son is planning on having a bunch of his friends over to watch it, because he's like that. I'll try once more to have him reconsider, because he's got good friends and I'd hate to see him lose them.
Possibly the worst piece of filmed media ever, in any format. I know that’s a bold statement, but it might even be true. Makes Howard the Duck look like a masterpiece.
Yeah, he might lose some friends over that. If any of them can make it through the first 10 minutes (the section with only Wookie dialog), they deserve a prize.
Yep! I just wanted to see what others thought about it since I had never seen it but heard it existed.
I watched it when it first aired as a teen, and I remember distinctly thinking "Wow, that was pretty bad." I didn't click Rich's link because I can only imagine what I would think of it today.
IIRC it first came out when I was a kid. I remember sitting in the den of a friend's house, probably eight years old or so and a huge Star Wars fan, and thinking, THIS IS SO COOL STAR WARS IS ON TV and, at the same time, I DON'T GET IT WHAT IS GOING ON?
Then, there is Jefferson Starship on the show for some odd reason playing a song called "Light The Sky On Fire"
