    Nice list! Any pix?
Is the 1970 the Lucite Bass? A real one? They are fetching quite a price!

Early '60s. The Danos are Sears Silvertone Model 1444s.

Sears and Montgomery Ward had some pretty cool versions of basses.

I have pics of some of them. I really should spend a day photographing everything someday.

Yes, the 70 is the lucite bass. Can't find a photo of that at the moment, but both that and the AUB-1 appeared in Hopkins and Moore's book Ampeg: The Story Behind the Sound.

So you like Ampeg? :D Not really familiar with them. Everything looks in really great shape like out of a time capsule. You original owner on most of these or just get lucky finding them? Very nice collection!

Yeah, I hesitate to admit the I own the Unofficial Ampeg Page, which is way out of date and kinda broken, but that's what happens when marriage, child, divorce, shared custody, and just life in general get in the way. I'm not the original owner, no, excepts the 2015 Ric that snuck in there. Just patience and attention brought them to me. Most of this stuff was bought before prices went crazy. The '68 B-15N that is in the photo with my P-bass, for instance, if I remember right, was $175 around 1994, but the tolex was shredded. I recovered it, and installed new grill cloth when I stumbled across some NOS in an old dealer's shop. I could never afford much of this stuff at current prices.

We had a Montgomery Ward and Sears near where I grew up, also the Dano factory was just a few miles away.

I wanted an Airline Pocket Bass so bad when I was a kid but my parents started me on accordion instead. No wonder that to this day I have such an affinity for sub-shortscale basses.

  9. These are my three vintage basses that are older than 25 years.

It's in a decent enough probably unoriginal case, certainly much sturdier than the original case the 12-string is in, which is only slightly stronger than a damp cereal box. Yeah, it would be nice to have an original, especially if it had the tiger stripe lining, but it's not an urgency.

I was only asking as I am looking at a new short scale 8 string Hagstrom and the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is a HSC. I just need to know if any manufacturer makes one that would fit this bass. I already have a 34" scale 8 stringer and the idea of a short scale 8 stringer is interesting to me.

Well, if it’s anything before 1993 I guess I’m in...

Funny, never think of them as “vintage”. They’re just my basses. Mind you, they were nowhere near vintage when I bought them...
