Theater gigs, like pit gigs? I've done a few, My Fair Lady, Company, Guys and Dolls, and Godspell. It's a lot of fun, and you rehearse way less than the cast does. You should have some reading chops, and be able to tell when the cast member decides to skip pages worth of music(on the fly). I made a few connections through playing in the pit, usually the quality of the players is fairly high. The styles of music covered in a typical show is much wider than your run-of-the-mill band, too.
