IT folks "of a certain age" might remember the mighty Novell NetWare, which in the early 90's dominated the PC-based computer network world (85% market share, until Microsoft's Windows NT came along). Installing a NetWare server entailed feeding in diskette after diskette, and inevitably it seemed the install would fail at the second-to-last diskette, necessitating starting all over again.

NetWare 4.x was worse. I was actually the second Novell Certified NetWare Engineer in the state of Virginia back in the day. The network support tam I was on installed NetWare 4.x into every school in the county - about 55 schools in total - and then WAN networked them all together.
