I have a Sammick bass and I don't have the money to get a new bass, so I was thinking of maybe putting new pick-ups in it, to help with the sound. I was hoping for any comments about this. What pick-ups to use or if this is a bad idea.

If strings new/different brand strings wont help you get the sound your after, then pickups might. It would help if you described what sound your after. We might be able to then recommend a brand or model.

I was looking for more of a deeper, droning sound. I know I could get an amp to do it for me, but I don't have money for an amp and I'm playing mainly on borrowed equipment, so I'd rather try and get the most of what I want with the bass.
