ok I play in a metal band with 2 guitarist who use drop D but play very fast technical riffs using alot of open D string.

Its becoming 2 hard for me to play what they are playing so i was thinkning of tuning my bass like this ADADG.
Anyone else ever done anything else like this with tuning?

I have given it a try when my band played a few Korn covers :scowl: I hated playing Korn songs on bass...anyways, I can see this working for you since you are in a metal band. If you use your B string a lot, you might not even need to tune it to low-A. Keep it at B and just tune down your E to D (BDADG). I use this tuning for quite a few of the songs in my band. Try both tunings - ADADG and BDADG, then see which one works better.

I dont use my B string that much but when I tune it ADADG its easier for me to play some of the riffs i have wrote using the B string.
