  1. I was playing around today with my rack gear,
and used a rack-mount effects unit in the effects loop
of my BMax. Then I started to wonder, could a tube
preamp be put through the effects loop to offer some
    much needed warmth?

In other words, would it work to run (2) preamps simultaneously?
One into the effects loop of the other?
I'm sure someone has done this before, or at least tried it.
I would love to hear if it works, as I'm thinking about a tube
pre, and if I could get a small one (like an ART MP or whatever)
just to try, I might find that I like it...or not.

Anyway, if you have any experience with this please share.
  2. It'd work fine. Just curious though, if you like the tube goodness of your extra preamp, why not just scrap the BBE and keep the tube one?

  3. That's just it, I don't know yet if the "tube goodness" is for me.
I've never tried tubes before. So I thought if I try out an
inexpensive one first, then I'd know if I wanted tubes or not.
In the meantime, I like the sound from the BMax, especially
with the sonic maximizer. Maybe tubes + sonic maximizer
will = "my kind of tone".
