This is going to seem a little silly here on TB...

...but I'd like to post in praise of bass guitar in general. My current band is a recording project and the bassist seems to have given up on being enthusiastic. He has good reasons to be that way, but it's not helping move anything along.

So I plugged my favorite P-Bass in yesterday to lay a track or two down. There's just nothing like it. All of the power and whomp that the average folk attribute to rock guitar is right there in a beautiful, thumping bass. If I could find a band looking for a bassist, I'd be pretty happy!

I don't know where this really belongs, but you certainly can't call a thread about bass "off topic" here on TB. I'll open it up to suggestions from you guys - where would be the best place to move this to? Basses? Recordings? Miscellaneous?

It starts out like a band management situation but then veers from that. I voted miscellaneous.
Will the original bass player be fired for lack of enthusiasm?

Maybe we can cross link this thread to the bass players thread on a guitar forum about how he doesn't feel appreciated and wants to snag the spotlight on stage. To facilitate that he is now laying down guitar tracks for the unreasonably sensible guitar player who refuses to noodle. :D

All said tongue in cheek of course ;)

    Definitely not OT.

The entire post is speaking to band issues, band mate issues, and playing bass in a band setting. The word "band" is used twice, once in each paragraph.

    Definitely Band Management. IMO

Sensible voting and posting - nice work! Except for Alex. He's a duck (as we say in our special mod code).

    Moving to Miscellaneous in 10, 9, 8, 7...

    I been everywhere, man...
    None. At all.
If the TV show "Archer" has taught us anything, you try the "phrasing" interjection, and if that doesn't work, you try the "so, we're not doing phrasing anymore?" line. If those two fail, then you ask "well, can't we at least say that's what she said?"
