    hey guys,

what do you think of my tone ?
i really love that old school CHiP's tone !

here : http://www.myspace.com/jaykod you can listen to "Hooked
i play a Fender Aerodyne Jazz with P/J setup, P pup only, straight into my LM II then in the mixing desk.

I don't slap, i do really pull hard the strings :d
Forgive my playing, i've been repractissing my bass for 6 months after a 2 years break.

    comments would be appreciated !

That's good stuff. Hooked reminds me of good old school Jamiroquai. The playing, the sound, great!

Sir, you don't need to make excuses for your playing. It sounds great! Nice vibe. The sign of good bass playing is that it gets you movin'.

I really like your sound. Thanks for sharing it with us. It funky, fat, dirty, and nasty. Keep doing what you're doing.

Please feel free to share more in the future.

If you're able, I'd love to hear the drum and bass part isolated. Is that possible?

    Joe

hey guys ! thank you so very much !!

you know, i really mean i wish i could play better, my technique is not as neat as i wish it was. i guess this is beacause i've been playing classical piano since age 8 (i've recorded rhodes parts on all Jaykod songs) and i'm not so neat as that :smug:
thank you anyway :) and oh yes, Jamiroquai is my favourite band, this really sounds as the greatest compliment you can give :hyper:

for those who are wondering, this tone comes from my Fender Aerodyne Jazz, P pup only, D'Addario strings (light gauge 40 - 90), really hard plucking, LM II with LOW @ 2 o clock, HI MID @ 2 o clock and VPF @ 10 o clock, with a DBX 163 X in the effect loop, set with around 12 dB of gain reduction on peaks :bassist:

i'll keep you posted guys, this is so encouraging :D

edit : joe i just read your post ! i will think about that when i go back to the studio. FYI, we don't have a drummer at the moment, i played that part with a keyboard

  16. Whoo! Keyboard drums!

Sounds pretty good for a fake drumset. I also like that rhodes sound. I've been trying to convince one of my bands to use that sound for two of our songs. Maybe I'll send them to your MySpace page...

  17. +1! I'm an old school P-basser and I like the bass part, the playing and the tone. I also agree it's reminiscent of "good old school Jamiroquai".

Have a Stella Artois and some pomme frites for me!
