This whole chestnut thing is vastly overrated.

I had a roasted chestnut for the first time in my life today. I've been hearing Frank Sinatra sing about them for years, and I just don't see the appeal. I found them to be rather mushy and gross. Why is this a Christmas tradition? They're icky.
  2. My fiancee is allergic to them, too. Icky.

Stained Glass Candy is much better. And when you make it in Cinnamon, it can REALLY clear your sinuses.

    Rock on

I don't want no Jack Frost nipping at my nose neither.

I really hate to disagree, but I love them. We were in NYC last weekend and made a bee line for the chestnut stands. Perhaps it was in the execution and delivery as opposed to the chestnut's itself

I agree with Mike; I love them also.
  6. ya know ben, i don't recall frank saying anything about eating them...just the fact that they were roasting over an open fire...
  7. Wasn't it Nat King Cole?

Sinatra just keeps singing about that summer wind, which came blowin' in from across the sea. I think it lingered there, and touched your hair...

    You get the idea. :p

  8. Or Jack Frost roasting on an open fire.

Or Chestnuts nipping at your nose.

    Harbingers of doom, they are.
  9. I've never had a chestnut before.

I think I will stick to dry roasted peanuts and cashews.
  10. Get out there man and live life to the fullest; buy a bag of chestnuts today! :D

I've never decked the halls before either... just because a song tells you to do something doesn't mean you should.

  13. I once was caught in the back room at a Christmas party with a girl named Holly.

I gave her an incorrect phone #.

    I'm bad, I know. :p

did you get a case of the decked balls, too?

  15. Well, a gentleman never likes to kiss & tell, but after my little Yuletide tryst with Holly, I started dating another girl.

    Her name was Penny.

    Penny Cillin! :p

This has been one magnificent thread hijacking. :D
