well a huge hit to the bass market today, i saw you can finally get those budget stingrays at musicians friend. I really really do not like this. I saved all summer to get my stingray. I'm a real punker, i saved for THE bass. Now i know at my next show sum kids gonna come up to me and say, "yea i have bass just like that", when he/she is talking about the budget one. I guess my major problem about this can root to about 7 years ago when i started taking lessons. I was trying all the basses and such and i saw the stingray on the wall. It was sooo expensive but it was the coolest one. I finally got enough courage up to ask if i could play it. From that minute i knew i needed to have one. Finally 7 years later i have enough money to get one. Being a stingray owner is like a special club, and that club just got opened up to the general public. This disturbs and angers me i guess. Well thats enough venting, I'll just be happy with my stingray and stop complaining, hopefully people will be able to tell the major difference when i play, cuz theres nothing like that stingray tone.

Unless you point it out, I doubt half of the listeners will be able to tell.

Don't be an elitist. So what if they make a budget model to reach those bassists who can't, or don't want to, afford the higher prices for the Stingray. Your bass will only be less meaningful if you feel it is.

See, before you had to be above 5 feet tall to own a stingray....no longer! Anyone in the general public, even those weirdos under 5 feet, can own a stingray....my god, what has happened to my peaceful world.

I had been awaiting the release of these just to see the price and what was going to be offered. I like the Stingray look for 250, but what about the sound? I'd like to play one just to see how the pickups are and the neck. If it felt good, it'd be worth it to slap a SD PUP and tone circuit in there. Owning a Stingray is cool, but some of us are young and don't have lots of money. I'm glad that companies offer foreign made budget models of classic basses. I'm sure it will be a quality bass, for the money. Isn't the Music Man side good quality, why wouldn't they make the best they can make for that market? Owning a bass shouldn't make you part of any group. We're all bass players, why should be divided into groups because of the price range of our equipment. It's not the instrument, it's the player.

Um.... the imitation Stingray looks nothing like the real one. There are tons of differences. What a joke, who actually believes that's a stingray? Those pickups only have 3 knobs to em and no 5 point switch, how ********.

I honestly can't remember where I found it, I copied it from a page or forum an age ago and I rediscovered it while sifting though my backup CDRs.

Gibson Ripper... kinda looks like it eh?

Munji, i wanna try out one of those Budget Lakelands, see if they're any good... so sue me... I like to save a dollar here and there...

Side note: Whats with all the Budget models now? Budget PRS santana, and now Lakeland and Ernie Ball (I dont think the opel is part of Ernie ball, but whoever makes it obviously designed it to be a budget mass produced machine made version of the Stingray)

Well, if you think what you have is more important that who you are more power to you. I belong to the even more exclusive Steinberger club, and I ain't bitchin' about the Spirits, the Hohner and the Cort knockoffs...

The Pedulla club is still very exclusive. :D

It must be either a subsidiary of Ernie Ball or Licensed by EB, otherwise they wouldn't have that headstock shape.

    Man, what's next, budget Rickenbackers?

Thats why I bought a Rickenbacker. They don't make a cheap one and they sue the pants off of anybody who trys to rip off the design.

Its MY job to keep punk rock elite!

  18. I kind of like 'em...

I'm gonna buy one for my 2 year old so that he'll leave my real Stingray alone! :D
