Does this make any sense to anyone:

Jazz bass with two stacked humbucking pickups. Switch one is volume for neck/series-parallel switch for neck pu.

Swtich two is volume for bridge/series-parallel switch for bridge pu.

Switch three is tone knob/series-parallel switch for the two pickups into the output jack.

Is this third switch necessary? Would I be able to get a different set of sounds with it or is it redundant?

    FWIW:

I rarely jack with onboard controls anymore but if you've already got a seperate series/parallel option to each pup you can mix however you want, what's to be gained combining the pups to do the same?

Most basses at best only have a couple good tones players stick with 90% of the time. You don't have all day to find a tone playing with a band.
