Just curious about what everyone’s ideal set up would be if this is the control layout they had to work with.

I’m personally currently using a passive Vol/Vol/T with a three-way pickup selector, and previously had an active setup with stacked VolBlend, Mid, stacked BassTreble, and mids selector switch.

I'm highly opinionated and extremely self-assured
Volume, Bass, Treble, selector switch. Push/pull on the volume for either coil split or active/passive.

I’m personally using single coil Aeros but whatever you want. I was looking into this yesterday and saw what a wide variety of preferences people had with relatively few knobs, so I was curious how popular some of the combinations I haven’t thought about were.

Depends on pickups, but probably volume, tone, rotary cap selector switch (like a Tonestyler), and pickup selector switch.

I'm a fan of simple. Volume, tone, three-way selector, "producer knob".

That's just prefect, really. One of my basses is set up similarly, but with no tone control on it, only two volume controls and a pickup selector switch. Works great.

    Yowza. That's outta the park.

Personally, I like what's most familiar. These past three years it's been volume, bass & treble cut, with pick-up selection, series/parallel and preamp switch. I'm talking about the L-2000, of course.

Given your parameters, with one pickup:
    Volume, bass & treble cut
    Series/parallel
    I guess that's an L-1000/1500/1505.

    With two pickups:
    Volume, bass & treble cut
    Pickup select

Stacked Vol/Vol w/preamp bypass, stacked active Bass/Mids, passive Treb, kill switch.

  13. I dig the Dingwall Volume, Pickup Selector, Bass, Mid, Treble knobs then Active/Passive switch.
Really dig the Pickup Selector as a 4 way knob because it does not get bumped to a different setting, wish the Active/Passive was also a knob selector so as to not get bumped.

No stacked or pull outs, each setting an individual knob.

    I like knobs. :woot:

2 x push/pull volume (for coil splitting), bass, mids, high (doubles as passive tone knob), mid freq, passive/active switch, 2 x phase switch for each pickup, 2 x series/parallel switch for each pickup, kill switch, low battery voltage warning light

  16. Three knobs and a switch on a two pickup instrument would be pickup selection/vol/vol/tone. On a single pickup it'd be vol/tone/producer/speed dial to the pizza shop.
