Old thread... cool... here's a three-pickup bass:
Looks like a bass with one, 3-coil pickup to me.
It's a Wishbass ... posted as a joke ... funny, yes?
Okay, no. Sorry 'bout that
Actually, this wishbass looks quite nice imo
gibson g-3, has three single coils.
Two and a half or three?
This one got sold because of the umbilical cord and neck-so-thin it would flex when used onstage. Great bass just not for me.
Here's a video of David Minnieweather's take on the 3 pickup system.
Here's a link to his website...They guy makes killer basses! I used to own one, and have 2 currently on order.
Here's mine. It's an Alfonso Iturra.

anyone said the new ernie ball musicman "big al" ?
ugly as heck, but im pretty sure it has the same setup as a strat.
My 3 pickup bass:
I think I'll wire my SX with a MM/J/J in series or something. This thread has inspired me.
When I was in HS in the early 70's I was envious of my friends Teisco that had 3...(or was it four?)
Bass NW is selling this custom one - looks pretty cool.
Since this thread has been necro'ed I'll add and clarify a few things.
first off, the Dingwall Z-3 has now been around for over a year:
Also, the PRS (Paul Reed Smith for the search engine), is an OLDER model. They haven't made that style bass since the early 90's and it is in fact a FOUR coil bass. The three on the front are indeed working pickups and there is a dummy coil in the back of the bass. It can be seen in this picture:
This thread is UNDEAD

Now THAT is way cool. an over sized strat.
Only mod I'd do to it is install a Kahler idiot stick!
