I heard this version of "Third Stone from the sun." I think Michael Brecker is on it. There is a bass solo in the beginning. It's not jaco, unless he played upright. Well, i wondered if any of you have heard it and know what album it is on.

it's awesome!!!...it's a double bass solo in the beginning, and i think that it's Pattituci playing on it...i could be wrong though...

I agree with Relman; I'm thinking it's from Who Loves You...the Jaco tribute that was released about 3-4 years ago(?). Anyway, it's recently become available as a domestic release.
    www.towerrecords.com has it for $15.
Search "who loves you" uinder Album Title.

That's definitely the album it's from. JVC in Japan, released on Concord Jazz in US. Patitucci and (Mike) Brecker on "Third Stone". Bunch of other bass dudes on the album: Mark Egan, Victor Bailey, Will Lee, James Genus and Marcus Miller.
