Through body or bridge, whats the difference?

    I see basses with strings that go through the bridge, the body, or even Laklands that give you the option to go either way.

    Besides the obvious physical differences what difference does it make in;

    1) Tone
    2) String feel
    3) String life
    4) Sustain
    5) (insert any other unmentioned variables here...)

  2. I couldn't ever hear any difference the strings vibration ends where it meets the saddle. Of course I could be wrong (I am sure that there is some kind of physics behind it that I am unaware of).
