Thumb Bolt-ons are obviously bolt-on necks, and they have Ovangkol bodies. Thumb Neck-thru's have Bubinga bodies and have the neck-thru design. The bolt-on has a two band eq, and the neck-thru has a three band eq. The bolt-on can also be orderred with a wide string spacing option. I find the wide version a little easier to play, but I have large hands and fingers. In terms of sound, you can't go wrong with either bass. I personally like the Ovangkol body's sound a bit better which is why I chose to buy a Dolphin Pro. I think for the money the bolt-on is an exceptional instrument.
