yet another warwick thread. ok, here's the situation. i recently bought a corvette std 5 after about a year of considering difft. basses. i had tried all kinds of corvettes but very few thumbs. after having the bass for about a week, i now believe i might be happier with a thumb b.o. 5. here's what i am asking: is the thumb punchier and more cutting than the corvette? and what kind of other differences can i expect if i switch basses? i am already aware of the more apparent neck dive in the thumb, but i can handle that. thanks very much, ryan oh, and is there an even better more growly, punchy, cutting bass for 1,200 out there?
For growl, I've always found MIA Fender Jazz basses to be quite growly. If you look into used basses, you could get nearly any thing. Here are some places I'd consider looking for a new/used bass... www.basscentral.com (first place I'd buy something from, just based off how friendly and incredibly nice the guys there are) www.basspalace.com (almost everything's used, but seems to have accurate descriptions... Just ask Usul) www.musiciansfriend.com (is an explanation really needed?) www.guitar-villa.com (a place near me, they have good prices on some stuff, bad on others... most of the sales-people are dicks, with the exception of the one guy, jason) www.bassnw.com (another incredibly good place, that I'd rank with Bass Central... Good prices, great gear...) Hope this helps, if you intend on searching for a used bass... I'm not sure if you know of those places or not, but either way, it couldn't hurt to mention them.
the only thing that i can think of as far as difference is in the pu placement. i don't know if it's just me but it seems that when you put the pu's that far down it lacks some of the bass. anyone have experience with these that really know? thanks, ryan
