thumb fatigue

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by i like tictacs, Nov 29, 2004.

  1. If I'm playing a cheesy slap line that is quite simple, my thumb just starts getting tired as all hell after about a minute. I think I may not be using enough wrist to slap - for example, Mike Gordon from phish can keep the same slap line going that is relatively simple for ten minutes+ in weekapaug groove.

i'm guessing it's a combination of not enough strength and not enough wrist action.

  2. Yeah, it's all about wrist action. I move my thumb just barely if not at all when I slap. Put the motion more into your wrist and arm.

i find it useful to have ure hand/wrist almost in a perfect line with the neck, it makes faster slapping easier
