Thumb rest on vintahe fenders?

    Why are they below the strings? I can't seem to wrap my mine around it! (sorry for misspelling "Vintage in title"

    old school players used it to ancher their fingers and pluck with there thumb giving it more of a upright feel and tone.

    yeah for me its more of a look then anything..

    I plant my thumb on the pickup as do just about everyone else lol..

    :)

    but if you are going for that vintage vibe its a must to be in the right location.

    Discussed about 100000000000 times in various forums.

    The original assumption was that bass players would play with their thumb, and needed a place to anchor their fingers.

    Search the Internet just once and you'll find MUCH more.
