Thumb rest?

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by keithconn, Jan 30, 2002.

  1. On the old Fenders I know what the thumb rest is for above the strings - FOR YOUR THUMB!

But what is it for when it is below the strings, like on the old J-basses? For strumming with your thumb? Thats the only thing I can think of.

yes, back in the day you would curl your fingers around the rest and pluck with your thumb!
