Thumb rests

    Hello. I noticed that on the old Fender 51 P-basses the thumb rest was underneath the strings. Is there any particular reason why?

    It's called "PullBar"/"TugBar" in that position.. Leo Fender installed them there because the bass was mostly striked with just the Thumb at the time.. The bar was for your fingers to hold your position playing..:thumbsup:
