Thunder Funk VS. GK 400RB

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Tom Neves, Dec 20, 2004.

  1. There has been a lot of talk about ThunderFunk amps.
How would you compare the GK 400RB to the Funk.
There may be one in my future.

I have both. The TF is louder, warmer, and has a more versatile EQ section. The 400RB is definitely a notch down sonically IMHO, but mine has been indestructable so far and I still use it as a backup/spare. The 400RB doesn't sound bad, just not as rich as the TF (in my opinion, of course YMMV).

I agree with Tritone....I also have both, and the Thunderfunk is in a different class IMHO. I've had the GK for a very long time though, and never a problem......not even a fuse

  4. Of course the 400RB is not going to sound as strong. It's 200 watts less. A fair comparison would be between the TF and the 700RB-II. More headroom is going to have a major impact on what you hear sonically.

  6. Everyone,
    Thanks for all the info.
I'm seriously thinking about this amp as a replacement for the GK.
I have yet to hear any negatives regarding the TF.
I would sure like to play thru one before taking the plunge but no dealers are here in the Islands.
Would you guys recommend a good Dealer in the States?
Thanks, Aloha, and Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas)
