Thunderbird Club

My custom shop feels like a cricket bat in comparison to my IV.
I have several bolt-ons. The best I’ve been able to determine is that the the bolt-ons went 1.5 around 2013 about the time the Classic Pro came out. More recent ones reverted to the wider neck, but I’ve not been able to pin down the year. That was around the time they disappeared from the website, but venders were selling them at $449.00.

I want to get a Japanese Elitist from the early 00’s. They are set necks with the 1.5 width.

For any locals who might be around, we’re playing Winters, we start at 9, and we will be getting some video footage to be used in our upcoming video.

This will be a good show all around.

Funny that I'm just thinking of modding my EB-3 style bass. It's a Tokai that I've wired the Series 1 circuit in it: 30K mudbucker, either low-cut or mid-choked, blended with the bridge mini-humbucker. The non-choked neck sounds weak, as there's no top from the mudbucker and no bottom from the low cut.
I'm thinking of changing the electronics into the Series 2 circuit. I'll use the 1.2K low-Z-bucker from current Epiphone, and remove the low-cut in the non-choked positions. Hopefully this will help with the clarity, especially im the neck-soloed position.
My EB-2 is an amazing sounding bass. It has a dry, warm, woody red-brown sound that is warmer than a Precision. It is a full range sound that doesn't have obvious holes, at least to my ears. It's not a high output instrument but I wouldn't call it weak sounding.

New project in my head:
I may buy an Epiphone bolt-on Bird and convert it into 8-string. The bolt-on neck is wider so it could accomodate the double courses. I'll use the bridge from EY Guitar Music, which looks like Schecter and Musicvox bridges. I'll likely upgrade the pickups to Probuckers as I swap them out to Reissues on my VP Bass.
Any insights?
A while a go, somebody converted a ProIV into an eight or even twelve string bass. That's got a narrow nut. When he started, it wasn't universally a project that people thought would work, but it turned out very well in the end.

If you are looking for a wider neck, don't just assume that a bolt-on will have one. Earlier Korean made ones had the wide neck. Later on, the necks got much narrower and more like other Thunderbird necks. I really like the early Korean baseball bat necks, but I don't have one now. Your project sounds like fun.

I recently got to witness a couple small-ish red octopusses fighting with each other. That was an unexpected show in Puget Sound.

My 2018 IV is 1.5". The 2010 LE is wider.

Christ Church was on the walk back from Guinness. I enjoyed it.

Jameson experience this afternoon, in Bow St. Viking Splash tour this morning in an old Army DUK, includes some water time - a canal I think.

The guy said he was originally from NY, but lives in Chicago and does marketing for his company for Texas or something. A young guy, maybe 30.
Poor guy. Clearly never saw Crocodile Dundee.

An Orville is easier to find, same bass as far as I can tell.

Great bass if you can find one.
