Thunderbird Club

A truck is a tad more useful on a farm…
But not as much fun.

I should have tried that when I was up.

You have Family nearby, yes? Come visit them for the weekend and you can play that bass. The more I think about it, I realize that Orvilles/Epi Elitist are actually one of the best Birds out there as a starting point - I think they need a rewire and better pickups to be great.

Those certainly look like TB+ in a chrome or nickel cover. Do you know what year?

Being Alnico V, the SD must sound more like Thunderbuckers than TB+, right?

I have no idea of the age of those, they're not all that magical to my ear. The SD pickups are really nice, any of the better quality vintage repro pickups are very similar to each other in how they sound - we're splitting some very short hairs.

After hearing some of all the different pick ups in your basses V.
I tend to agree with you.
For me the biggest differences lie with the Lulls, Thunderbuckers and Sidewinders.
Lollars and SD’s sound very similar to my ears, i mean that in a good way.
But since I have only one TBird.
I’m more than happy and pleased that I’ve got a sidewinder and two Tbuckers in it.
Ticks all my boxes.

My dreams are bigger than the boss lady’s allowance. So, that makes it a no. Getting an oil change in the truck and the shop next door just does exotics. :crying:
Never let up on your dreams. I’ve seen used truck purchase prices that make a used Vantage seem like a bargain.
Case in point…

The Vanquish runs a bit more. I see a 2015 for about $140k. I agree, truck prices are nuts. Fortunately, I got my 2015 in 2018 when the market wasn't completely crazy. Only $30k for the GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab with matching shell and only 30k miles and in perfect condition. 5.3L with a 9,000# towing capacity. Once supply chain issues hit during covid, used trucks were going for $50-60k.

While not an Aston Martin or McLaren, I did have a "race car" for over 20 years. It was fun, but constantly fixing things that broke at the track got to be a drag.

For the EBCF folks. I am finding a lot of sympathetic vibrations on the E and A strings on my CP when playing Stand by Me. I don’t have that issue on other songs or any other bass. Anyone seen this with those strings?
I haven't noticed that in particular. You're playing on the D string and the others are vibrating?

If it makes you feel better, I’m likely selling this in the next few months…

…to buy a truck. Looking for a really nice early 1970’s Chevy short bed. Anyone here in the market for a near mint, low mileage, bone stock, no issues 1997 911?
