thunderbird? emo?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by crossingpoint, Mar 18, 2005.

  1. how would a epiphone goth thunderbird sound when you play emo? i mean... would it be worthwhile buying it or should i rather go for an SX or Cort? either way i need a 4string, i dont like playing on 5 strings.
what do you emo fans reckon?
    thunderbird, cort or SX?

    (btw... i did try searching)

SX. Definitely. The thunderbird isn't that great, and it's pretty neck heavy. Go with a jazz, you'll be much happier. You can always replace the pickups to get a nicer sound out of it. You should be happy that I'm not punishing you for your tastes.

    In my official capacity here, I have to ask;

    Emo like Thursday

    Emo like cursive

    Emo like jawbreaker

    Emo like dashboard/bright eyes

    'Emo' like Taking back Sunday?
  4. emo like thursday, finch, my chemical romance, story of the year.
i think the SX would be a better idea but im not really sure.

Definitely go with the SX. They cost a third of the thunderbird, and are basically better as well. Although MCR's bassist uses a precision bass, I would opt for the jazz.

Remember that in Durban you're going to have to pay alot of shipping, and I think, import duty.
  7. the shipping and import isnt a problem because the local music store is the "official suppliers" of those brands in SA (which basically gives them the right to rip people off).
they quoted me R6000 (roughly $1090) for a MIM p bass (the standard one)

reason : they are "the only people who bring fender into the country".
sounds like i should opt 4 the SX... any ideas which model??

I thought EMO was more about feeling like crap and all that stuff, than a specific bass guitar model. :meh:

Let's see... it wears all black, it is the depressed little brother of the Gibson, it gets picked on. I'd say it is the perfect match.
  10. yeah... there is definitely no way to recommend a particular bass for "emo."

    MMM..... Jawbreaker

I'd get a Fender Jazz. I pretty sure Mikey from My Chem uses a Pbass although when he first started out he used a Jazz. but who cares what other people are using.
What ever you get just make sure its black. Emo kids dont like bright colors. easier on the eyes i guess.

    Emo sucks.

    Get a Jazz bass.
  15. no -- they wear black on the outside, because black is how they feel on the inside.

don't you listen to the smiths? :D
