Thunderfunk Volume

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by freebeer, Jan 19, 2005.

  1. I am considering a TF420 but a little weary of the 400W power rating. I see they have a 500 watt EU version also that is a possibility. Anyone compare the volume of these amps to an SVT or SVTIII? I usually play through an 8x10 ampeg cab but think I am gonna invest in an el whappo. The SVT is a loud beast, sometimes just to big and loud, where as the SVTIII sounds nice and has plenty of volume for most situations. Is the TF noticably quieter than the SVTIII or should I spend the extra $100 and get the 500 watt version?

I think you will find it at least as loud as the SVT-III.

the 400 watt rating is seriously underrated IME.

    You're probably right about that.

I have a SWRSM400 and a SVT3 rated at about the same or a little more than the Thunderfunk......the Thunderfunk is easily louder than the other two.
  7. Thanks for the input guys. This is what I expected to hear.
  8. I played my Thunderfunk through an Ampeg 8x10 once. There is no conceivable way you need more than what that combo puts out.

I have played over 50 gigs with the Thunderfunk and it is loud enough for the job. It is also lightweight and sounds great. Don't worry about the 400 watts volume is not a problem.
