I recently got a Warwick FNA Jazzman 5, and im not too satisfied with it. Im going to return it(had 30 days to try), and then Ill have ~2000 dollars to spend. Ive been calling around Atlanta, but both guitar centers arnt carrying anything id like. I was hoping for a nice high end bass like a zon or a ken smith, but no one down here sells them:( What are your suggestions for a bass in this price range? And im a little worried about buying something over ebay before hearing it, so I doubt id do that.

Wow! That sounds too good to be true! Ill be sure to drive down and check that out. I live in Marietta, about 20 minutes from Atlanta, so its a long drive, but are there good prices on the instruments down there? Ive really been wanting to try/buy a Zon Sonus 5/2!

You might want to check out the Warrior Gallery down there. Rodney is the guy, I believe.

well, there's not really that much of a variety available for puchase in this area, and I don't know that many of these at the summit will be for sale, but who knows- you might be able to talk somebody out of their bass.

This is more for experiencing other gear, trying them out, seeing what's out there. Especially with the handmade indie-luthier stuff it's good for getting an idea of what they can do. I just host it as a little 'get-together,' it's all free, we just hang out and jam and try new stuff.
Might be a few there for sale or trade, who knows...

There should be a healthy atlanta contingent heading down, maybe a convoy/carpool is in order?

I'll send you the directions if you like.

    HI!

If you have 2K to spend, you can get alot of bass. A Fodera, no. I don't know if you want 4, 5, or 6 string. Any used Roscoe rocks, you'll be able to afford certain Ken Smiths', Zon's, Spector, Modulus, Lakland, a used Sadowsky or new Sad Tokyo. These are just a few suggestions. You need to elaborate on what you are looking for and what style you're comfortable playing. This would help with suggestions from the forum. Best of luck looking. With 2k to spend, you should have a blast finding a nice bass:D

I play mainly rock, some praise stuff, and some country stuff, so it needs to be a versitile bass. I was thinking about a modulus q5 today, and im gonna go try one out tomorrow. Can you really get a Ken Smith for 2K new?

Edit : Just checked the Modulus site for a Q5, and they list for 3000:\ How much are they street usually?

Get a G&L L-2500.They produce a bunch of different kick*ss tones, and you won't have to spend 2 grand on it.You can use the extra cash on other musical toys and tools.

I don't know what kind of bass you are looking for but in the fender style there is a lot of lakland stuff available in that price range.

you could get a used Roscoe or F-bass in that price range. and with basses like those they are usually in "like new" condition. when people pay 3 grand for a bass they usually take awesome care of it, I know I would.
