hi there ... I noticed alot of bassists know alot about time signatures and stuff .. I dunno anything about it .. I rarely even count while playing .. I totally depend on my sense .. I don't know how the knowlege about it would help me in playing .. and I can't find someone good enough to teach me .. what do you think I should do ?? is there any excersices or so apart from the normal playing scales with metrnome thing .. thx for yer time, btw, I always find your answers real impressing peace,
Find a book that teaches the basics. Hopefully one with a CD that will let you hear and play the different time signatures, as well as other useful concepts. Yep, playing scales to the metronome can suck, but there's no real growth without some pain and suffering. How hard are you willing to work to become the best player you can be?
There is a great book by my friend Dino Monoxelos called Odd-Meter Bassics. It is put out by the Musicians Institute and published by Hal Leonard. You can get it at bassbooks.com Mike
