i have an audition coming up in october, and one of the excerpts chosen is from tchaikovsky's romeo and juliet fantasy overture. however, i'm struggling with the slurred chromatic passage (the descending one starting on c) that frequently occurs throughout the piece. does anybody have any suggestions regarding how i should practice these chromatic passages so i can get them nice and clear before my audition?

  2. You need as much left hand articulation as you can get. Hammer-on, pull-off. You should be able to hear most of the notes if you only play with the left hand.

You’ll get more responses if you post to Orchestral Technique, by the way.
