For those of you who have swapped out your active mec gold pickups for passives, how did you go about wiring up the new ones?
I just got a set of bart j's I'd like to try in my thumb, but as you all know, they are passive where the stock mec's are active. Not really sure how to wire them.

I have done MANY pick up swaps before, and have installed complete electronics in the basses I've built, so I'm not a total newbie at this. My thumb is my only active pickup bass, as I prefer passive, so I'm just not sure how to connect them. If I wire them in the same way the mec's are, will the 9v that powers the mec's fry the barts?

    Thanks.

hey, i took out my barts for MECs.
the MECs have an extra red wire for 9V.
the barts dont have that wire. just ignore that and it'll work.
