SOLD Tobias Classic 5 Pre-gibson-Walnut/Wenge/Alder

I should not be doing this but string spacing is uncomfortable for me at 17.5 mm.
Bought this bass from Gospel great Terrance Palmer who played with Fred Hammond, Israel New Breed, Martha Munizzi to name a few and has been on a ton of albums.Serial #1619 Walnut top Alder back Thick Wenge tone plate.Has Flamed Maple neck with Rare"Wenge"stringer which i have never seen on a Pre-gibson Tobias and i have owned more than most.Also has Rare"Wenge THICK Venners which were only made on 2-3 basses according to Michael Tobias.Upgraded Bartolini Ntmb 918 pre that Bartolini supplied Terrance when the Original pre crapped out around 95.
Exellent condition for its age with dings and surface scratches which is to be expected for its age but you wont be disapointed!Comes with Original Tobias case and new set of strings installed.Back of the head stock was engraved by T,Palmer.

Lowend is Thick and Solid as you mentioned with crystal clear highs!!

 

Weighs 9.5 not heavy at all,Terrance replaced the pre at some point with a diffrent one that had three switches but did not like it and put back the Bartolini.

 

Now that you mentioned it i now remember Terrance telling me that it was indeed a Demiter with the three switches.
I dont know what TP did with that pre.When i bought the bass from him it had the Bartolini he got from Tom Wagner when the Original pre went bad.

Thanks Note,,I emailed you First before i put up the Thread but did not get a reply.Anyhow indeed the price is very fair and in value considering the Rareness and History of this bass as you mentioned.There was a simple Pre-gibson Basic 5 that sold on Ebay a couple of days ago for $3500 which indicates that the value on the Pre-gibson Tobias have once again gone up.Take care Bro.
