Tobias questions

    Hi I recently came across this Tobias for sale, and don't really know too much about them. It's serial #8505..Is it pre or post Gibson? Can anyone tell me approx what year it was made?The overall condition is pretty well-loved but it sounds great..Is $900 way too much?

    I have a '96 growler with a 45xx serial number, if that helps at all. You can call Gibson customer service and they can route you around to the Tobias division, and they can tell you. $900 is cheaper than eBay, I paid $700 for mine, local - St. Louis - without a case. My only regret buying it is that I can't afford a neck-through classic...

    You can do all kinds of wacky things with that bass. It's basically a couple of Jazz pickups inside a MM housing, with a separate 2-band + mid switch preamp for each. And they are super-comfy :)

    I love my Killer B. The Growlers are fantastic too, and were what I was going to buy, but then came across a K-B for a really good deal.
