Tom Petersson Signature Model 12-String Bass from Waterstone

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Fretless12ver, Jan 18, 2005.

  1. Waterstone Musical Instruments from Nashville is introducing a new 12-string bass designed in collaboration with Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick. Tom is the guy who first came up with the idea for the 12-string in the 1970's. A signature model bass is long overdue! If you're going to the NAMM show be sure to check them out. More info

  2. those look pretty nice...although i don't really have a need for a 12er, that sure looks like fun to play!

    Beautiful bass!

I always liked his Hammers (even if the spacing between string groupings was a little narrow), but that Chandler version he'd been playing the last several years was just F'UGLY!

Amy Humphrey from Clatter has a 4 string version of that bass.

I've seen Tom play that Kidd live. Nikki Sixx also played one at one point.

BTW, Has anyone seen the 'That 70's Show' video with Cheap Trick playing the full version of the theme song?

    No, I haven't sorry.

Anyone know where these Waterstone's are made? These MUST be either MIC or MIK at their pricing.

I'll check them out at NAMM this week and get pics & info. I'm glad to see the octave strings above the root strings.

My only complaint about my Mockingbird 8 string is that it's setup the opposite ala Rickenbacker 8's.

Damn, that thing must be neck heavy as hell. Still gorgeous, though, retro-styled singlecuts make me melt.

You guys, stop being psychic! You're creeping me out! :p

I think one of the 12vers is coming my way as soon as they get them in…I can't wait to try it out! :hyper: I really like the one I have.

  17. It's pretty nice, although I probably don't have a use for a 12 string. Might have to check out the 4 string version.

Cool! So you are planning on adding a twelve to your stable? Think it will see much work on future recordings? I have fallen in love with twelves since getting my import Hamer.

Oh yeah. When are you guys playing in Dallas?:D

That guy is a backstabber, after all those years with Hamer to rip into them in interviews showed a side of his character that was previously hidden. What does he have bad to say about Chandler now?

I haven't heard this. What was the problem with Hamer? Does Rick Neilsen still use all those custom Hamers?
