Tomasz Stañko

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [DB]' started by Peter McFerrin, Feb 7, 2003.

  1. I just picked up Soul of Things on a friend's recommendation and I really, really dig it--it reminds me a lot of Kenny Wheeler's classic 1970s recordings like Deer Wan, but a little less ethereal.

Anyhow, what are some other good Stañko recordings to pick up? I love his tone and phrasing.

hmm...i have the record "balladyna" with dave holland and stanko...it´s a bit weird...kind of a more free version of jazz :D
it seems that it needs some more time for me to dig in that stuff...
but he also made a good recording with anna maria jopek (good polish pop/jazz singer)...
i think it was the album barefoot (that i can ercommend to everyone...some good blending with polish middleage folk musik)....
