Tommy Babin ... free jazz yah!

Anybody heard this dude? He's recently moved to Vancouver, before that based out of Montreal for many years.

I heard him in a duo with pianist Paul Plimley last night in Victoria - whoo! He's got 'free jazz time' figured out - that sort of relentless but slippery pulse thing. Really energetic player, interesting chops too - lots of bitone / harp harmonics, wailing arco as well. Definitely into Wm Parker / Dresser territory, all that good stuff. Folks in Vancouver, check him out if yer into it - he's playing with Francois Houle's band in Dec.
