The old Ampeg idea taken a step further. Interesting.

I guess it could work okay for guitars but I can't see it for basses. I want the pickups seated into the body, preferably into the wood of a neck-through-body.

Just having a "donut" body with a big cavity in the middle which has different chunks of wood popped into it doesn't do much for me........(besides the fact they look butt-ugly to me).

  4. I agree, but I think there is a possibility there. More developement, perhaps?

  5. I think the main disadvantage to that, is the effect it would have on the vibrations of the tone woods.... think about it, you got a HUGE chunk taken out of the middle of the bass, thats going to effect a lot. With guitars, tonality of your wood isnt as important as in bass, so it woulden't effect it as much.
