    Hello all,

I was just working on a 05 MIM Jazz bass and since the tone pot was very loud and scratchy while turning, I decided to spray it with some electronics contact cleaner. I may have used a bit much, but now the pot seems to not do as much? It's not that much quieter, but when turning it there seems to be much less change than there was before. Is this something that's supposed to happen or is this just the first sign of a dying pot? I've never had a problem with this contact cleaner and I've used it on probably a few hundred guitars.

Unless the pot is original on a collectable instrument, just replace it. A few dollars and a few minutes and then problem is solved.
