Question- I know Tony Kanal from No Doubt uses a Redburst Yamaha BB3000 but is this bass active or passive?. I see that Yamaha Japan do still make a Yamaha BB3000 in Redburst but as a passive bass.
I have been looking for the same type of bass Tony Kanal Uses for a while and i may order one direct from Japan.

Question 2. If i did order a Yamaha BB3000 Would an outboard Pre-amp like Sadowsky etc be the best option for making the bass Active?

    Rock on!

  2. as far as i know it was a passive Yam but he went through a Pre-amp and then poweramp... when i saw No Doubt live he was using an Ampeg Pre-amp..then power then 8x10 so0o he get his wide range of sounds...

and yeah a sad pre-amp would be great.. but i would be tempted to get a sad stomp box to give u more flexibility... so0o u can switch ...i find passive is great for effects... :)...:)
