I like a lot of DT's material, while Tool doesn't appeal to me at all.
  5. "Who wins?" are they competing for something? ...weird question

I don´t think there´s much to compare between members of DT and members of Tool.. I dont find any sense on it..

    Gee,I wish all life`s decisions were that easy.:p :D
  10. Tool for sure.

If DT had a decent singer and lyricist, maybe... I just don't like that guy's voice.

I think DT are too cheesy, although they are pretty cool. But I just think Tool is better..

They are both great bands, and I can't choose which one I like better.

Dream Theater has the better musicians

    Tool has the better songwriting

I had to go with Dream Theater... Tool is good, but I look at it like this, I only have one Tool cd, and about 7 DT... and I listen to DT far more than I listen to Tool. So I would prefer the DT...

frankencow, check out an album of theirs, "Falling into Infinity." I think it has bunches of great stuff, for what ever you are into...

    -Best Male Voice (Maynard)
    -Best Lyrics (Maynard)
-Best use of bass effects (Chancellor)
    -Best Videos

    -Best Drummer (Portnoy)
    -a Technically better bassist (Myung)
    -Best Guitarist (Petrucci)
    -Best Keyboardist
    -Best Song composition

Both are great, i have listened both to some level but right now i go for DREAM THEATER...

i agree they are both very different, but recently i got way too much DT stuff from my drummer, i really LOVED "A change of seasons" (Maybe cuz its not a fully DT album... mostly Covers... EXCELENT covers BTW)...

Tool is great also... they have way more "Feeling" than DT but its imposible to compare both.

look above... and please DONT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ... you should give any band a listen and judge... if you dont like em then youll be right.

try "A change of seasons"... it has a real long song which i liked at the fourth time i listened... i loved "The big medley" the very first time i listened to it. the whole album has a nice bass tone.

    a cool bassline: six o'clock
