Tools for beginner builder?

    Can anyone suggest basic guitar building tools needed for construction?

    There should be a sticky on the basic tools, equipment, etc. needed for luthiery (and all things similar).

    You can find a use for just about any tool in the shop at some point. So far on Geoff's 8 string we've found a use for all the standard tools like the bandsaw, router, planer, table saw, and drill press as well as some slightly less conventional bass buildin' tools like the mitre saw, angle grinder, and reciprocating saw. I'm sure we'll find some more fun ways to use tools before we're done, too.

  6. Since not everyone may have access machinery, maybe two lists with: machinery and hand tools; just the required hand tools.
